About the role:
We are recruiting a Category Director to join our Building Services team. You will be responsible for defining the range proposition and supplier strategy across Wolseley Building Services to deliver strategic growth objectives, increase sales, profit and market share. The Category Director will assess market changes, customer requirements and impacts of legislation to deliver a market leading customer proposition, working cross functionally across the business.
You will also be responsible for:
Developing effective category plans that demonstrate a detailed understanding of the market, with consideration of external threats and competitor activity, using market and customer insights in collaboration with the sales and operations teams
Increase sales and margin for the Specialisms by developing the category and range proposition
Work with key stakeholders to drive the performance of specific product groups
Develop category strategy that reflects the needs of defined specialisms and segments of Pipe and Climate business.
Partner with suppliers to deliver sound 1-3 year category plans
Ensure effective sourcing plans to maximise profitability
Establish effective working relationships with Supply Chain and Inventory to deliver the most cost- effective route to market, optimise stock holding, and ensure targets on working capital, availability, and margin are achieved
Drive team engagement and instill a culture of continuous improvement across the business unit
Coach and develop all individuals by ensuring personal development plans are in place, as well as building effective talent and succession plans
What we are looking for:
Proven success working in a category role within a large organisation, ideally in a B2B trade environment.
Ability to define, develop, and manage supplier and category strategies.
Demonstrable experience of inspiring and performance-managing cross functional initiatives.
Proactive and resilient approach towards identifying new business opportunities
Ability to influence and challenge senior level stakeholders and clients in an appropriate manner. Able to remove obstacles, overcome resistance, and negotiate effectively to achieve profitable outcomes
Articulate communicator with significant experience of presenting to large/senior audiences
High degree of commercial acumen
Proactive approach to problem-solving and solution generation
