About the role


The Own Brand team are looking for a Category Assistant to join them to provide highly effective support to the Own Brand Manager in delivering the planning and day to day management of all the activities required in developing and launching a number of own brand ranges to market. This role is responsible for the execution of plan that will improve customer choice and quality, as well as maximising sales for Own Brand.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone interested in product wanting to get into a Category career route within a large commercial organisation such as Wolseley UK.


You will be responsible for

  • Working with the Own Brand Manager and commercial teams in the ongoing development of customer focused own brand ranges ensuring that they are aligned to the brand propositions as set out in the brand bibles
  • Work with internal function to ensure that colleagues are trained and aware of the features and benefits of own brand ranges and that they feel confident to sell them
  • Co-ordinate the critical path across the development and launch of a variety of ranges across multiple categories from off shore, EU and UK sources
  • Plan and manage all the activity in the development & launch of Own Brand ranges covering such area as product packaging, design, instructions, outer packing, warranty development, merchandising etc, both with internal functions, external 3rd parties and suppliers/manufactures
  • Collation and analysis of data from multiple sources in order to provide key insights, decision criteria and routine reporting on the performance of Own Brand. This includes working closely with suppliers and other functions across Wolseley 


About you

  • Project Management skills – able to demonstrate implementation and execution skills, as well as establishing initial plans
  • Flexible working with ever changing priorities, dealing with multiple activities at the same time
  • Ability to influence key internal and external parties and execute plans through a network of stakeholders 
  • Analytical skills and the ability to draw clear conclusions from complex and wide-ranging data
  • A desire or passion to get involved in product
  • Experience using Microsoft Packages including Excel for reporting
