Own Brand Product Planner

About the Role:

It’s a really exciting time to join Wolseley UK as we get going on our journey to totally transform the way we serve our customers and make us the first choice specialist merchant in our markets. A big part of our journey is to significantly increase our Own Brand product range.

This role is to provides support to the Own Brand Product Manager in delivering the new own brand range and supporting new product development from planning to its launch in branch and on line.  You will be responsible for the delivery of an own brand plan that will improve customer  availability, choice and quality across our own brand ranges. You will also work closely with buying and sourcing teams in managing the launch plans for new own brand product and supporting existing own brand ranges.

Key Activities:

  • Plan and manage all the activity in the development & launch of Own Brand ranges covering such area as  product packaging, design, instructions, outer packing, warranty development, merchandising etc, both with internal functions, external 3rd parties and suppliers/manufacturers
  • Co-ordinate the path across the development and launch of a number of ranges across multiple categories from off shore & EU sources
  • Working with the Own Brand product Manager in order to deliver all targets and objectives relating to Own Brand product performance.
  • Collation and analysis of data from multiple sources in order to provide key insights, decision criteria and routine reporting on the performance of Own Brand. This includes working closely with suppliers and other functions across Wolseley
  • Working with the Own Brand Manager and commercial teams in the ongoing development of customer focused own brand range ensuring that they are aligned to the brand propositions as set out in the brand bibles.
  • Co-ordinating and executing customer focused annual marketing plans for own brand ranges/product promotions and marketing events that develop customer awareness for Wolseley Own Brand products.
  • Work with internal function to ensure that the ranges are implemented and supported by the operational teams which in turn delivers and exceeds the own brand sales participation with the business.
  • Undertaking market research and benchmarking Own Brand performance against competitors’ sales, product quality, pricing, marketing initiatives, and product innovation.  Reporting upon gap analysis between Own Brand and competition.
  • Attending trade fairs to promote Own Brand products and to establish connections with potential suppliers.


About you

We would like it if you had experience of product planning, merchandising or marketing however most importantly you will need good project co-ordination skills and the ability to influence key internal and external parties. You will also need to be able to analyse data and create reports in Excel. If you have experience of branding or customer facing marketing campaigns that would also be beneficial.
