About the role:

Wolseley UK are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Senior Developer who is ready to make the leap into Solution Architecture. Joining a busy team of Solution Architects working across all areas of the business, the successful candidate will receive training, mentoring and opportunities to build their experience and grow into the role

Solution Architects at Wolseley UK provide technical leadership in solution design with responsibility for creating high level designs and overseeing and supporting their evolution into working solutions. Architects are responsible for solutions complying with strategy, policies and standards but are pragmatic in ensuring delivery to business timescales.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Conceptualising new projects; recommending solutions and strategies.
  • Designing, documenting and overseeing implementation of end to end integrated solutions.
  • Solution compliance with all relevant standards and with Wolseley UK and group strategy.
  • Providing architectural expertise, direction and support to IT colleagues, with a particular focus on service oriented architecture and integration.
  • Conducting research on emerging technologies and recommending technologies that will increase cost effectiveness, new thinking and infrastructure flexibility.
  • Formulation, monitoring and application of Architectural Standards and Governance in conjunction with other Architects at Wolseley UK and within the group.
  • Support the Lead Enterprise Architect in promoting the EA process, outcomes and results to the organization, including the enterprise's IT and business leaders.

What we are looking for:

  • A keen desire to move into Solution Architecture.
  • Experience in software development.
  • An understanding of application development methodologies.
  • An understanding of SOA, middleware, database technologies, object-oriented analysis and design.
  • An understanding of the principles of IT Governance.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
