The Role:

To lead and manage a small team of customer-focussed internal sales managers, to increase profitable sales by selling existing products into existing customers/markets as well as developing and retaining new customers by driving sales of the whole Infrastructure proposition i.e. Utilities, civils, power & fibre and hire.

To drive department overall objectives including:

  • Customer Relationship Management – act as main focus on leading and facilitating progression of the sales teams; their sales practices, policies, procedures, ensuring a consistent approach and best practice across each of the sales teams
  • Drive continuous improvements in sales operating processes and sales activity
  • Coach and mentor new and existing team members
  • Ensure consistent performance management across all teams
  • Drive and achieve day to day Hub activities/objectives  - set immediate priorities
  • Set/drive and achieve overall department budgets – short/medium / long term
  • Forge/Manage and maintain cross function relationships to achieve dept objectives  -eg with the branch network, Trading Directors, RSD’s,RSM’s
  • Delivery of market a leading sales experience for all customers

You will also be responsible for:

  • To manage sales teams providing both Single Point of Contact and multi-customer sales activity including:

    1. Set and drive daily/weekly/monthly activity & objectives
    2. Support team to achieve objectives
    3. Drive and measure team performance
    4. Develop systems and process to ensure continuous improvement in sales processes
    5. Plan the future – develop and convert sales pipeline
    6. Training – coach and develop team leaders
    7. Proactively engage key stakeholders to agree key focus areas and ensure accuracy of KPI reporting
    8. Negotiate project support/special pricing where required

  • To work within the Infrastructure Sales Hub, being ‘brand agnostic’ and driving the full Infrastructure proposition
  • To provide technical/sales support to internal/external customers – branch network, external sales 
  • To liaise with support functions as required to ensure fluidity of supply and information – credit services, inventory, external sales etc
  • To deliver targeted revenue growth for department key accounts and projects
  • To deliver targeted GP£/margin on department key accounts and projects
  • To maintain, monitor and improve OTIF (On Time In Full) performance – through accurate data entry

What we are looking for:

Essential:

  • Previous sales order processing experience
  • Leadership and management of teams
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market trend information
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Ability to use, develop and manage day to day reporting systems
  • Prior track record of achievement in positions with significant accountability
  • PC literate – Microsoft Excel especially, CRM package to be used – SalesForce.com (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 years managing multi-discipline teams

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of construction sector and role of merchants
  • Keenness and willingness to learn new product areas within the Infrastructure Customer proposition
