The Role: 

The Business Development Manager holds responsibility for the pre-sales and customer development for the Off-site solutions provided by Wolseley UK Fabrication and Modular Engineering. This role focuses upon tender presentation, development, securing of contracts and associated activities and working alongside the other Fabrication and Modular Engineering management and team embedding secured propositions sufficiently to enable the project delivery manager and manufacturing teams to deliver the scope of secured projects.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To fully manage new and existing commercial accounts; Major clients, direct and indirect spend.
  • To maximise sales; manage margin expectations; minimise debt risk; build strong relationships.
  • To receive Major Project enquiries from a variety of sources including the sales team, ABI, web search and suppliers etc.
  • To identify appropriate project / account requirements and liaise with regional teams.
  • To identify and deliver incremental sales growth through capital projects and FM.
  • To liaise with the estimators and Sales Support in order to maximise opportunities.
  • To have a “must win” mentality.
  • To support colleagues as and when required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • To attend where required any training and development programmes requested by the Company.
  • Overall responsibility for and delivery of key customer and daily Fabrication quotations, tenders, presentations and as appropriate after sales service working with Fabrication management.

You

  • Experience of specification sales, managing accounts or working in sales across a branch network
  • Pipe, fittings and valves knowledge and experience is mandatory, understanding of pre-fabrication, off-site assembly or modularisation preferable.
  • Detailed awareness/knowledge of products in a similar or related field
  • Proactive approach towards business development, identifying new opportunities and sales growth
  • Client relationship management – a clear focus upon developing long-term relationships with both colleagues and clients
  • Able to communicate technical information in a clear yet comprehensive manner
  • Able to influence senior stakeholders and clients, both inside and outside the organisation
